Scarborough Beach State Park

With lifeguards on duty, water temperatures in the high 60s in July and August, and a consistently frothy surf, Scarborough Beach State Park is a great place to swim or ride the waves.  Billowing sand dunes provide a great backdrop for a stroll, a bike ride, or a search for sea shells.  And, of course, there’s always sunbathing.

The beach is just a 15-minute drive from Portland.  The nearby town of Scarborough has plenty of lodging and restaurants.

Travel Tips

There are a limited number of parking spaces—285 on-site and 125 off-site.  Weekends, the on-site spaces tend to be full by 11:30, and the off-site spaces by 12:30, so plan accordingly.
