With lifeguards on duty, water temperatures in the high 60s in July and August, and a consistently frothy surf, Scarborough Beach State Park is a great place to swim or ride the waves. Billowing sand dunes provide a great backdrop for a stroll, a bike ride, or a search for sea shells. And, of course, there’s always sunbathing.
The beach is just a 15-minute drive from Portland. The nearby town of Scarborough has plenty of lodging and restaurants.
