Portland’s rich maritime legacy is evidenced almost everywhere you turn, but there’s no better place to explore it than the Portland Harbor Museum. Find out how wooden ships were built in the 19th century, check out photographs documenting the construction of the more than 200 World War II Liberty Ships built in South Portland, and take in spectacular views of the harbor. Situated within the walls of historic Fort Preble, the Portland Harbor Museum is history at its most intimate and revealing.
